Why, how and when we should be saying no to gas in 2025
You may have heard about the big movement to stop relying on gas, and moving towards all-electric homes, buildings, and cars. Many councils in both NSW and VIC are also bringing in mandates to phase out gas appliances in new residential builds.
But many people don’t know why, when or how they should begin that shift.
Why no gas?
- "Natural Gas" is a fossil fuel and we need to stop burning it as it's increasing the CO2 levels in the atmosphere
- Gas is no longer a cheap fuel like it was 50years ago - prices are going up and we don't have an endless supply
- We need to 'decarbonise' our way of life - and swap over to 'electric' options which are then powered by renewable power (solar and wind)
How no gas?
- Efficient heat-pump hot water service
- Efficient reverse-cycle split-system ACs for heating (& cooling)
- Induction Cooktop
- Electric Oven
- Electric Vehicles
- Powered by renewable-energy
When no gas?
We can't wait until 2050 to reduce carbon-emissions. If you're ready to purchase a new car, ensure it's an EV, and that your new cooktop is induction. Replace your gas-heating when it dies.
We also love Tim Forcey's advice about replacing your Hot Water Service if you know it's nearing its end of life, as you don't want to be making impulse purchases when you're cold, wet and naked!
