ROLE: Experienced Graduate of Architecture / Building Designer

What’s the gig?
This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with our team, focusing on design development, planning/development applications and construction documentation drawings - predominantly of residential scale projects and larger community work too.
The coordination of the drawings/documentation with all parties involved is crucial to successful communication and execution of turning our team’s designs into real buildings!
These documents provide a thorough and precise representation of each project, covering every aspect from structural design, to building science and thermal-performance detailing to material specifications and more.
This role requires an experienced Graduate of Architecture or Building Designer who loves sustainable design, understands how buildings are constructed in Australia, and can produce architectural drawings/documentation as part of our team.
What is the role and responsibilities?
You have had at least 3 years full time postgraduate experience working on residential projects in Australia.
You will be working across multiple projects.
You are a proactive, organised and self-motivated professional, you will confidently work independently on tasks and collaboratively with the project team (overseen by director), whilst communicating effectively with your colleagues, clients, consultants and contractors.
You will be involved with client meetings, consultant coordination, DA applications, tender documentation and working drawings for Construction Certificates - of new homes, alterations/additions and retrofit projects (and community work too).
You will document buildings predominantly to Certified Passive House standard with the guidance of our experienced building-science specialists.
You bring your technical ability to the role, including experience with permit/certification processes, comprehensive knowledge of the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards.
Do you have these professional skills and experience?
Bachelor of Architecture, Diploma of Building Design or equivalent recognised tertiary qualification
Experience with Vectorworks 3D
Minimum three years experience in residential architectural documentation
Demonstrated experience in design development and construction documentation in the Australian residential sector
Knowledge and understanding of planning schemes and building regulations
A basic understanding of Building Science and the Passivhaus standard is welcomed (but not required as we can train you in this respect).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A collaborative approach to problem solving and interest in knowledge sharing and mentoring.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work across multiple projects.
Critical-thinker with analytic and problem solving skills (being a proactive solution-seeker).
Attention to detail.
Confidence and ability to work without close supervision (but also a team-player).
Shared values.
Must be eligible to live and work in Australia and must currently reside in Sydney.
Software Proficiency/Experience
Proficiency with Vectorworks
Confidence with Apple Mac
Familiarity with Sketch Up, Google Suite, Asana, Harvest, Programma, PHPP/DesignPH/Flixo welcomed
Salary and Conditions
Pay by negotiation according to your experience and demonstrated abilities, but always above award rates, with flexible working hours.
Full-time position. Please note our Sydney office does a 4 (extended) day work week.
