Visit Excel House with its architect and builder to discover how Passivhaus design and lifelong liveability add up to a healthier home in Ballarat
Join us on Friday 27 November at 4pm for a tour of Excel House, currently under construction in Ballarat. Talina Edwards, Director of Envirotecture, and builder Tim Trigg of Trigg Constructions will share the thinking and details behind this home targeting Passivhaus certification, and Liveable Housing Australia accreditation for accessibility/ageing in place.
Excel House takes its name from an ambition to excel in comfort, performance and liveability - and the spreadsheets that help make it possible. The PHPP (Passivhaus Planning Package) uses Excel to model energy performance, turning careful calculations into informed design decisions.
On the tour, discover how insulation, airtightness, high-performance glazing and heat-recovery ventilation work together to support comfortable temperatures, healthy indoor air and low energy demand through Ballarat’s changing seasons.
Ageing in place is equally central to the design. A single-storey layout, generous circulation and thoughtfully selected fixtures and fittings support independence as needs change. Sunny reading spaces and connections to the garden bring everyday pleasure into the equation, too.
Whether you’re planning your own home or curious about better ways to build, come with your questions and hear directly from the architect and builder.
