Every building we design is genuinely sustainable, healthy, comfortable and energy efficient. Envirotecture’s people are deeply experienced with different approaches to creating superior buildings—those which are a pleasure to live in and positively impact the environment. We call these approaches our 'four pillars' and each has a particular focus and its own strengths. We bring them together to create architectural designs that are brilliant in multiple ways.
Sustainability isn’t a bandwagon we jumped on. It’s at the heart of what Envirotecture offers and how our team works—and that’s been true for over three decades. Our experience combines with your vision to create a sustainable building that is deeply healthy and delightful at the least carbon cost.
Passivhaus
Passivhaus is an objective, thoroughly proven international standard that creates radically energy efficient buildings. They maintain a supremely comfortable temperature year round with minimal heating and cooling energy and the air inside is always fresh and clean. They are a big step up in quality and durability too.

Lower carbon
Buildings produce CO2 emissions in two main ways: from the materials used in their creation or renovation (embodied carbon) and from the energy used to operate those buildings over their entire lifespan (operational carbon). Our practice understands how to design in order to reduce both.

“Envirotecture proved to be a reliable partner in designing and constructing our Passivhaus homes. Their processes were straightforward and they were professional and focused on finding agreeable solutions. A positive lack of pretentiousness, their focus on what is actually doable (in contrast to what is designable on the drawing board) and their openness to alternative ideas was especially delightful.”
