What does a sustainable office renovation look like? What does it feel like? How can it be a healthy place to work? These are some of the questions we considered, because often our workplaces are our second homes - and we wanted to undertake this endeavour in the same way we’d work with our clients and their homes.
We’ve nick-named this special project “Not Nothing (New)” - so if you’re curious why, check out the story behind the name, and behind the ethos of Envirotecture’s new Sydney studio in a heritage building in Ultimo. We like to practice what we preach, so we’ve included a tonne of thoughtful design decisions to create this space.
From hempcrete walls, to bamboo floors and post-consumer recycled plastic joinery, the studio is a collection of some seriously interesting sustainable materials! The video also shares some timelapse photography of the curved hempcrete walls of our meeting-room being built (which might just be our favourite feature). We also love the bespoke handles crafted from reclaimed timber, and the acoustic insulation made from recycled denim…
