Environmentarian’s Jeremy Thomas recently joined our site tour to film hempcrete walls being built on site and learn about this exciting home renovation in Sydney
Thanks to our wonderful clients, and our builders at Point 6 Passiv, we recently hosted a public site-tour to share the story of Envirotecture’s ‘Permi-Palace’ home renovation in leafy Willoughby on the north shore of Sydney. The tour included an overview of the many sustainability features included in the project, and also a live demonstration of the hempcrete installation process.
We were grateful to have videographer Jeremy from Environmentarian and the Hemp Building Directory join us on the day to do some filming so we could share a virtual tour too.
The hempcrete addition is to the rear of the original masonry home in a heritage conservation area, and is also being used to build the walls of a small studio. The project encompasses broad sustainability goals with a primary design driver being to retain as much garden space as possible for permaculture (we can attest to the awesomeness of the peaches!) so includes a 10kL in-ground rainwater tank and a trial (with Sydney Water) of a greywater recycling system too.
