Beautiful, Sustainable Building Design

Russell Vale Reno

This simple cottage had good bones and due to the owners’ desire to maintain a simple lifestyle utilising multifunctional spaces and reuse existing parts of the house, it was decided to renovate and reinvent the existing cottage.

This charming home has come a long way from its original state.

Project Details

The exterior has been cleaned up and maintains a stylish yet simple cottage feel. The removal of the daggy old sunroom, converted back into a wrap around verandah emphasises this. Double French doors onto the verandah off the living area maximise indoor /outdoor flow and connection.

The house was extended into the backyard to provide an open plan living/kitchen/dining area. A covered outdoor entertaining deck maximises living space. With retractable awnings this space will remain cool and shaded in summer and have the ability to bask in the winter sunlight. The whole house was fully insulated with new double glazed windows and doors installed for full thermal comfort.
