Who wins wars? Not sustainable buildings!
Who wins wars? Usually, nobody – there are only different scales of losers. War is unsustainable, and somewhere beyond a last resort for a civilised society.
Next time we rush to become part of any “Coalition of the Willing”, consider the time before last (Vietnam), and the legacy it has left our brothers and sisters in Laos, Cambodia – and Vietnam. Here is the story of just one of “the least of these”…

North Korea is making blood boil this morning, but before it boils over, I ask myself – what did the Author of Love do when confronted by injustice and anger? Where is the love in the world today? In right wing neo-conservative politics? In Communism? Or in us?
No use making nice sustainable buildings if they get blown up, or if the people inside them get shot, or even just enslaved to self-righteousness.
Can we get a consistency between a sustainable built environment and a sustainable loving global society? That’s a challenge – surely the challenge of our generation.
